December 16th, 2017 - Wrapping up the 2017 campaign, Billy Moyer Jr. headed to The Dome at America’s Center (St. Louis, Missouri) on Thursday night kicking off the second annual VP Racing Fuels Gateway Dirt Nationals. Splitting the field of 94 Super Late Models into two separate groups for a round of qualifying on Thursday, Moyer Jr. laid down the 11th fastest time earning him the 3rd-starting position for his heat race on Friday.

Wheeling his way to the front, Billy streak to a 8-lap heat win positioning him 3rd on the starting grid for the $5,000-to-win preliminary feature. Running into trouble on the opening lap, Billy Moyer Jr. made contact with an infield tire while trying to avoid a spun out competitor. He was credited with an 11th place outing. The following night rolling off 3rd in his B-Main for one final shot at the $30,000-to-win finale, Moyer Jr. slipped back to a 6th place finish after making the decision to jump to the high side to avoid lap-traffic.
