December 1, 2018 - Bringing the 2018 season to a close, Billy Moyer Jr. traveled to The Dome at America’s Center (St. Louis, Missouri) on Thursday night for the 3rd annual VP Racing Fuels Gateway Dirt Nationals. With qualifying on Thursday setting up heat race lineups on Friday, Moyer Jr. timed in seventh fastest in his qualifying group.

Starting on the front row of his heat, Billy scored a runner-up finish behind Tanner English securing his spot into one of two $5,000-to-win preliminary features. Rolling off 7th, Moyer Jr. was an early retiree from the 25-lap feature on lap-11 after hard contact with a yuke tire folded the nose underneath his car. He was credited with a 20th place outing. Returning on Saturday night starting in 6th in his B-Main for one final shot at the $30,000-to-win main event, Billy came up four spots short of a transfer position with a 6th place finish. Receiving a provisional for being the fastest qualifier to not make the finale, Billy Moyer Jr. advanced through the field 16 spots in the 40-lapper to place 6th.
