Moyer Jr. opens 2020 campaign with WoO at Vado
Billy Moyer Jr. kicked off the 2020 season on Friday night at Vado Speedway Park (Vado, New Mexico) for the inaugural Battle at the Border. Drawing 42 World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series entries for the three-day event, Moyer Jr. recorded the fifth fastest lap in his time trial before falling one spot short of a transfer position in his heat with a 5th place finish. Streaking to a 10-lap consolation victory, Billy locked into the 17th-starting position for the opening night feature. On Saturday night for another $5,000-to-win A-Main, Billy followed up the fastest time overall in qualifying with a runner-up finish in his heat behind Darrell Lanigan. Falling short of a Top-10 finish in the feature, Moyer Jr. slipped back to a 16th place finish.
For the final round of the Battle at the Border on Sunday, Moyer Jr. secured his spot into the $15,000-to-win A-Main with a heat race victory. Receiving the pole position via the redraw, Billy got collected with the wall on lap 16 that caused severe damage to his car. He was able to escape uninjured.
