Sixth-place finish in Hell Tour stop at Tri-City
Billy Moyer Jr. invaded Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Ind.) on Tuesday afternoon to kick off the DIRTcar Summer Nationals with the Hoosier Dirt Classic. In a field of 31 Late Models, Moyer Jr. timed in second fastest in his group behind Tanner English before picking up a heat race victory. After running up front early in the feature, Billy slipped over the cushion the ninth lap while running in third, dropping him back to ninth. He wound up 10th in the 40-lapper. (Josh James Artwork)
On Wednesday evening at Peoria Speedway (Peoria, Ill.), Billy posted a third-place finish in his heat, which positioned him 12th on the starting grid for the $5,000-to-win A-Main. Improving one spot in the 40-lap affair, Moyer Jr. finished 11th.
The following night at Kankakee County Speedway (Kankakee, Ill.), Moyer Jr. came one spot short of a transfer position in his heat with a sixth-place finish, sending him into the B-Main. Streaking to a 10-lap consolation victory, Billy locked into the 16th-starting position for the A-Main. With $5,000 on the line, Moyer Jr. passed eight cars to register an eighth-place finish.
For the fourth round on Friday at Tri-City Speedway (Granite City, Ill.), Billy timed in sixth fastest in his qualifying group before picking up a 10-lap heat race victory. Earning the pole position for the $10,000-to-win A-Main, Moyer Jr. dropped five spots in the 40-lapper to finish sixth.
On Saturday afternoon at Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.) for another $10,000-to-win A-Main, Moyer Jr. secured his spot into the show with a runner-up finish in his heat behind Brian Shirley. Fading outside the Top-10 in the 50-lap affair, Billy logged a 16th-place outing.
Sunday's finale at Plymouth Speedway (Plymouth, Ind.) fell victim to Mother Nature.
Billy is currently seventh in the Summer Nationals point standings.
