Moyer Jr. extends Florida Speedweeks with Volusia visit
Extending his trip in The Sunshine State, Billy Moyer Jr. visited Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Fla.) on Monday afternoon to kick off the 50th annual DIRTcar Nationals. In a field of 51 cars, Moyer Jr. fell one spot short of a transfer position in his heat with a fourth place finish, sending him into the B-Main. Streaking to a 10-lap consolation victory, Billy locked into the 20th-starting position for the opening night feature. After bringing out the lone caution of the race on lap 13, Moyer Jr. pulled off three laps later to bring an early end to his evening. (Heath Lawson photo)
The following night, Billy posted a seventh place finish in his heat race, transferring him into the B-Main. Needing to place second or better, Moyer Jr. logged a 10th-place outing.
On Wednesday evening as the remainder of the weekend shifted under the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series banner, Moyer Jr. followed up a fourth place finish in his heat with a runner-up spot in his B-Main behind Darrell Lanigan. Slated to start the $10,000-to-win A-Main in 24th, Billy failed to make the call for the 40-lapper.
For the fourth round of the 50th annual DIRTcar Nationals on Thursday, Billy took part in time trials but after Mother Nature delayed the program for nearly three hours he made the decision to scratch from the remainder of the weekend.
