Wrisco Winternationals draws BMJ to East Bay

Billy Moyer Jr. followed the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) to East Bay Raceway Park (Tampa, Fla.) on Monday afternoon for the 45th annual Wrisco Winternationals. In a stout field of 76 cars, Billy fell short of a transfer position in his heat race and B-Main. The following night, Moyer Jr. laid down the second fastest lap in his time trial group behind Tanner English before placing third in his heat race. Starting the $5,000-to-win preliminary feature in 15th, Billy faded one spot to register a 16th-place outing.

On Wednesday evening, Billy came one spot short of a transfer position in his heat race with a fourth place finish, transferring him into the B-Main. He was running in the final transfer spot when persistent rain forced race officials to postpone the remainder of the consolation event to Thursday evening.

Outdueling John Baker in the final four laps to pick up the win on Thursday night, Moyer Jr. locked into the 20th-starting position for the $7,000-to-win A-Main. Passing six cars in the 40-lap affair, Moyer Jr. scored a 14th-place finish.

For Thursday night’s program, Moyer Jr. edged his way into the A-Main with the third and final transfer spot in his heat race. With $7,000 on the line, Billy was an early retiree from the caution-plagued feature with nine laps remaining.

In a field of 77 cars on Friday afternoon, Billy secured his spot into the $12,000-to-win A-Main with a third place finish in his heat race. Rolling off 13th, Moyer Jr. improved four spots in the 50-lapper to register a ninth-place finish.

Wrapping up the 45th annual Wrisco Winternationals on Saturday, Moyer Jr. posted a third place finish in his heat, which positioned him 15th on the starting grid for the $15,000-to-win finale. Dropping two spots in the 60-lap affair, Billy logged a 17th-place finish.
