BMJ records a pair of seventh-place finishes with MARS in Illinois
Back in action on Saturday, Billy Moyer Jr. ventured to the Land of Lincoln to compete with MARS Late Model Championship at Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.).
Running into trouble early, Moyer Jr. suffered mechanical issues in his hot lap session but backed up his mid-pack qualifying effort with a sixth-to-third run in his heat. With $5,000 on the line in the feature, Billy gained three positions in the 40-lapper to register a seventh-place finish.
For another $5,000-to-win MARS Late Model Championship event on Sunday at Spoon River Speedway (Banner, Ill.), Billy topped the 25-car field in time trials with a blistering 13.768-second lap before placing first in his heat. Rolling off on the front row for the feature, Moyer Jr. faded to a seventh-place finish in the 40-lap affair.
